IDAHO CHAMBER ALLIANCE The MCC is currently a member of the Idaho Chamber Alliance, an organization that was formed to help our local Chambers stay informed of what was happening at the State Legislature, stay connected with the issues and to help make an impact on the issues that effect our businesses, our economies and our communities.
The MCC wishes to communicate its positions on the following issues:
URBAN RENEWAL The Middleton Chamber supports the work of Urban Renewal Agencies in the State of Idaho as an effective economic development tool. Our Chamber supports legislation to enhance this tool (working with local School Districts to not cause them adversarial funding on their levies) and opposes legislation that would dismantle or unduly constrain the overall effectiveness of Urban Renewal Agencies bringing in new business, growth and making needed improvements.
TRANSPORTATION ISSUES The Middleton Chamber supports Third-Year Approval of GARVEE Bonding for Transportation Projects to accelerate funding for transportation projects. The Chamber also supports reasonable and balanced revenue increases for state transportation needs.
LOCAL OPTION TAXATION The Middleton Chamber supports approval of local option sales tax authority for additional funding for public transportation, roads and bridges. The local option sales tax would be approved by the voters, in an election that would occur only in November of even-numbered years to assure maximum voter participation. The Chamber will consider all options presented by the Coalition for Public Transportation.
